Help our cats with a sponsorship
Help our sanctuary by sponsoring a cat from La Casetta Dei Gatti! Sponsorships help guaranteed food, care and protection for our cats all year round. You can sponsor a cat for yourself or as a gift to someone you love.
All the cats on this page are our “long term residents” and the stars of our sanctuary: kitties that have been with us for many years and that have called it a home. They’re true celebrities: our visitors love meeting them and taking photos with them! If you’re ever in Rome you can come and meet them and spend time with them and our volunteers!
We use PayPal for our sponsorship programme and we have two payment options: monthly (€12/mo) or yearly (€144/single payment). You’ll get a sponsorship certificate to show your friends or to gift to someone you love.
Hi! My name is Lapo, I’m 10 and I’ve been a resident of La Casetta Dei Gatti since 2014. I was just a kitty when the volunteers found me abandoned in the park near the sanctuary. I grew up surrounded by the love of volunteers and that’s why I get along with humans really well! Not so much with other cats: I find some of my shelter-mates simply annoying! The vet has discovered that I have vitamin B deficiency, which at times causes me to limp: that’s why I often have to take vitamin B supplements. Thank you for your help!
Hi! My name is Palla and I’m 12. I was a house cat, then my owners decided to take me to a shelter because they didn’t like my personality (I didn’t like theirs either to be fair!). I was very wary of humans at first. Now, however, you can always find me at the sanctuary entrance to greet visitors and receive a few cuddles.. not too many though, ok?! I really like sleeping in the most unlikely places: the basin above the washing machine when the spin cycle is on at full speed is my favourite! Thank you for your help!
Hi! My name is Sibilla and I’ve been at La Casetta Dei Gatti since 2017. I was brought here by someone with a big heart that saw me in the street in distress with my two kittens. I was malnourished and always looking for food for my babies and everyday I risked my life crossing dangerous intersections to find something to eat. The shelter gave me a second chance at life. My babies got adopted by loving families. I could have been adopted too but I truly feel loved and at home here. Thank you so much for your help.
Hi! My name is Linus and I’ve been at La Casetta Dei Gatti since 2017, but my adventure began earlier, when two boys found me in the middle of the street after being hit by a car. They immediately took me to the vet: they discovered that I had suffered a head injury and as a result of the accident I became deaf. They took me to the shelter where I’ve lived happily ever since, roaming around the sanctuary grounds and getting cuddles from visitors. Thank you with all my heart for your help! Linus.
Hi! My name is Lisetta, I’m 10 years old. I was found in a park with my tail cut and in really bad shape. When I was brought to La Casetta Dei Gatti, the volunteers immediately noticed that something was wrong with me: due to an accident, I couldn’t pee or poop on my own and that’s why to do those things I need help from my beloved humans. Here, I feel at home: I love receiving attention and cuddles from the volunteers and all the visitors. Thank you so much for your help!
Hi! I’m Roma and I’m SO beautiful! I’m 7 years old and I arrived at La Casetta Dei Gatti when I was just a few months old. Unfortunately my little brother was very fragile and he didn’t make it. I, on the other hand, grew up here with my friends and the volunteers who have been pampering me ever since! You can always find me on the table where the volunteers prepare our food bowls: I stand guard and make sure that all the bowls are properly prepared and distributed! Thank you so much for your help.
Hi! I am the legendary Epifanio, I’m 5 years old and I arrived at La Casetta Dei Gatti in 2020, a few days before Christmas. I must have been a really nice Christmas gift for the sanctuary: I brought my affability and my 8 kg of love! Like my friend Lisetta, because of an accident, I need the vet to help me pee and poop (I’m not a fan but life is about compromises, right?!). I feel great here at the sanctuary: I receive cuddles from all the volunteers who love my funny faces and always take a thousand pictures of me! Thank you so much for your help.
Hello, my name is Sally, I’m 11 and I’ve been at La Casetta Dei Gatti since 2013. I was abandoned outside the shelter on a cold November night together with my two little brothers: we were one year old and we were three beautiful and healthy youngsters. In the morning, they found us and took us inside the sanctuary where they looked after us and gave us lots of cuddles. My brothers managed to find a home, but I stayed at the shelter: I’m happy here because I have the opportunity to run around the park in the company of other cats, I find good food every day and a nice bed to sleep at night. Heartfelt thanks for your help!
Hi, my name is Aisha, I’m 5 years old and I’ve been at La Casetta Dei Gatti since 2019. I was found abandoned in a park when I was still a kitten. All the visitors who come to the shelter fall in love with me (have you seen how beautiful I am?!), but I really don’t like humans and cuddles! I’m not an aggressive cat: the important thing is to always leave myself an escape route because – if I feel ‘trapped’ – I have no problem stretching out my paw and throwing a few nice scratches at the poor human on duty! I get along very well with the other cats at the shelter and I now feel at home here surrounded by my friends. Thank you very much for your help (I swear, if you come to visit me I won’t scratch eheheh)!
Hi, my name is Rufus, I’m 6 years old and I’ve been at La Casetta Dei Gatti since 2021. When they found me I had just got run over by a car and I was immediately transported to the Emergency vet here in Rome. After my health stabilized, they transferred me to La Casetta. I am one of their “neurogenic bladders” kitties: I need help from a human to do my business because, following the accident, I lost the ability to pee and poop on my own. I’m a very calm and composed cat: I get along with all the other cats here at the shelter and also with humans. Thank you very much for your help!
Hi, my name is Dalia, I’m about 3 years old and I’ve been at La Casetta Dei Gatti since 2021. Some not very nice people abandoned me as a kitten, and La Casetta saved my life. However, precisely because of what I went through, I don’t want to deal with humans at all! In fact, Aisha and I started a competition to see who can avoid them best! When I first arrived at La Casetta, if anyone tried to approach they were promptly scratched to death! Now, however, I have gotten used to the volunteers and let them feed me and clean my litter box without having to stretch out my claws! Thank you very much for your help (from a distance!)
Hello friends! My name is Nadal, I’m 6 years old and I’ve been at La Casetta Dei Gatti since 2020. Everyone describes me as a very good cat, with an amazing personality… well, they’re absolutely right! I have a “neurogenic bladder” and need help of my beloved humans to pee and poop. I was quite unlucky, as they’ve also discovered I have leukaemia and I’ve been doing chemotherapy for the past few months. But I don’t give up! The oncologist says that I am responding very well to the treatment and I am very confident! Since I am a beautiful and very good cat, I don’t make a fuss when they have to give me medicine, and I am always very happy to receive the cuddles and attention of the volunteers. Thank you very much for your help!
Hi, my name is Milla, I’m 2 years old and I’ve been at La Casetta Dei Gatti since 2022. I’m one of the kitties with a neurogenic bladder (it means I can’t do my business alone and I need the help of a human) and – as if that was not enough! – I am also paraplegic, having lost the use of my hind legs. However, I didn’t give up: here at La Casetta Dei Gatti the volunteers always help me do physiotherapy and, thanks to their efforts, after several weeks I made great progress! Now I can even get up on all fours and take a few steps (after a few seconds I fall back down because it’s a lot of effort for me!). Thank you very much for your help!
